Is it dangerous ?
Diving with tiger sharks in Fuvahmulah may sound intimidating, but it’s not dangerous when done under proper supervision. We work with a reputable local dive center that follows strict safety protocols: detailed briefings, highly experienced guides, and small groups for maximum safety.
Tiger sharks are generally calm and not aggressive toward divers. Of course, we’re dealing with wild animals, so there’s no such thing as zero risk, but everything is in place to make the experience safe, respectful, and unforgettable.
We require a minimum of 50 dives to ensure all participants are confident, with good buoyancy and calm underwater behavior.
Is it shark feeding ?
No, this is not shark feeding. In Fuvahmulah, tiger sharks are not directly fed, but gently and responsibly attracted. A tuna head is discreetly hidden under rocks, releasing a small trace of blood that sparks the sharks' curiosity – without conditioning or hand-feeding them.
Fuvahmulah has always naturally attracted tiger sharks due to daily fish waste disposal from the island’s local fishing activity. Since the construction of the harbor and fish market in 2003, this waste has concentrated in one area, creating a shallow plateau that’s now a world-renowned dive site for tiger shark encounters.
