Blue Whale Expedition
Join me in a once in a lifetime experience swimming with the biggest animal on earth!
Group 1 : November 02-08 2026
Group 2 : November 08-14 2026
Dive into the fascinating world of the largest animal ever to roam the Earth: the blue whale. This one-of-a-kind expedition offers you the rare chance to swim with these majestic giants in a place that is still little-known, protected, and kept secret for their safety.
We’ve discovered a rare destination, where the ocean comes alive for just a short time each year with a breathtaking natural event: the passage of pigmy blue whales.
To preserve the magic of this destination and protect the whales, the exact location will remain confidential. Full logistical details will be shared with confirmed participants.
The destination is reachable via a direct flight from Bali (Denpasar) or Darwin (Australia) (approx. 1h20 to 2h, roundtrip flights around 400 USD)
Inclusions
• 5 boat trips (approx. 6h/day) with an experienced crew (French- and English-speaking)
• Swimming with pigmy blue whales (weather and nature permitting), dolphins, and maybe even sperm whales
• All breakfasts at the hotel & lunches on board
• 2 group dinners included (the first night, and the last night)
• Comfortable accommodation in the heart of town
• Photography workshops & all photos from Joeva included
Small group for the best experience!
Unlike any other expedition, I intentionally limit my groups to only 4 swimmers in order to respect the local regulation of a maximum of 5 people in the water: myself included. This means no rotations and no waiting on the boat while other groups take turns swimming. When an opportunity happens, everyone can enter the water together and fully experience the encounter. For me, this is the best way to create a more intimate, seamless expedition while maximizing the chances of unforgettable moments with the whales.

What can we see ?
Blue whales! But not only. This place is a magical place for all sort of marine life and particularly cetaceans (at least 24 species of cetaceans have been spotted over there!). If we are lucky we might be able to swim with Sperm Whales, dolphins, and other marine life!
Blue whales
Sperm Whales
All sort of cetaceans
Please note that this is a wild nature expedition, and encounters with whales can never be guaranteed. Although we travel during the best season and maximize our time on the water, nature remains unpredictable and every experience is unique.

Whale watcher spots
If you prefer not to swim, the Whale Watcher Spot allows you to still fully experience the expedition from the boat. It’s perfect for guests who want to enjoy whale encounters from a different perspective, while staying close to the action and the group.
Whale watchers can also join snorkeling sessions with dolphins or other safe marine encounters when conditions allow. When travelling as a couple/friends, partners may alternate in the water during whale encounters, as we always respect a maximum of 5 people in the water with whales at any time.
For couples booking together, a $500 CAD discount is offered on the swimmer’s spot, making it a flexible way to share the experience together while adapting to different comfort levels in the water.
Where are we staying?
We're staying at one of the best hotels in town (4*), close to the ocean and downtown. It has a swimming pool.
Wi-Fi and air conditioning are free in every room.
The hotel offers double or twin rooms.
Hotel is subject to change to a similar hotel depending of availability.
*Please let me know your preferred type of occupancy when booking.

Is it for me?

If you are an ocean lover and a good fit swimmer (capable of swimming fast and a long time in wild open ocean) then yes it is! You don’t need to be a diver as we will only be snorkeling. But It's important to be a very good swimmer (except for whale watcher position). Having some basis in Freediving is good as well but non necessary.
You don’t particularly need to be a photographer to join the trip, I will be offering photography and editing workshops and giving advices to people who are interested but you are also more than welcome to join us without a camera or with just a gopro!
I’m bilingual French/English so you are more than welcome to join the tour if you speak one of these 2 languages! I will make sure to always translate everything for everyone.

Odile, France
Two years ago, I discovered the Instagram profile of a photographer who seemed as passionate about whales and Moorea as I was.
I followed her posts with great interest, until the day Pierre and I decided to join her on one of the most incredible adventures she organized: a week-long whale-watching expedition on the most beautiful island in the world… Words cannot adequately describe the intensity of what we experienced during that week: from meeting incredible people from all over the world to the majestic encounter with the queens of the ocean… Our lives have changed forever thanks to her.
That person is Joeva, and she simply made my dearest dream come true, and so much more ♥️♥️

Standing face-to-face with such phenomenal sea creatures, breathing, smelling and listening to the ocean, and experiencing the unique wildlife and landscape of this sheer paradise with like-minded people under Joeva’s attentive care is an exhilarating, out of this world experience that you have to do at least once in your lifetime. It is a privilege!
